A Simple Way to Calm the Mind and Body


Sometimes emotions feel overwhelming. Stress, anxiety, sadness, or fear can build up and make it hard to think clearly or feel calm.


EFT, also known as tapping, is a simple technique that helps bring the body and mind back into balance. It combines gentle tapping on specific points of the body with focused attention on what you are feeling.


Think of it like pressing a “reset” button for your nervous system. You are not ignoring the emotion—you are giving your body a safe way to process it.


How Tapping Works


EFT involves tapping lightly with your fingertips on certain points of the body while focusing on a specific feeling or issue.


As you tap, you bring awareness to what you are experiencing instead of pushing it away. This can help the intensity of the emotion gradually decrease.


It’s similar to how taking a deep breath helps calm the body—but with an added physical and mental focus.


How to Start Tapping


You can try EFT in a few simple steps:


1. Identify the issue: Choose one specific feeling or problem.For example: anxiety before a meeting, stress, or a negative thought.


2. Rate the intensity: On a scale from 0 to 10, how strong does it feel right now?


3. Create a simple statement: Acknowledge the feeling while offering yourself acceptance.Example:“Even though I feel anxious, I accept myself.”


4. Begin tapping: Start tapping on the side of your hand while repeating your statement.


Then move through the tapping points:

  • Top of the head

  • Eyebrow

  • Side of the eye

  • Under the eye

  • Under the nose

  • Chin

  • Collarbone

  • Under the arm

Tap gently 5–7 times on each point.


5. Pause and check in: Take a breath. Notice how you feel.Rate the intensity again.


6. Repeat if needed: You can go through the process again until the feeling decreases.


When to Use Tapping?


EFT can be helpful in everyday situations, such as:


  • Feeling anxious before an event

  • Managing stress during a busy day

  • Calming down after an upsetting moment

  • Working through difficult thoughts or memories


It can be done almost anywhere and only takes a few minutes.


A Gentle Reminder


You don’t need to force emotions away. You can meet them with awareness and give your body a way to release them.

Small, consistent practices like this can make a meaningful difference over time.
